snow day

we woke to a winter wonderland this morning and these children couldn't wait to get in it. I hate the cold and I hate snow, so I wasn't out there long.. just enough to see them enjoy this rare occasion. when they had had enough it was time for warm baths and hot chocolate- the only way you end a snow day in the south.

 

p.s. now that we've gotten this snow out of our system, bring on the warmer days and sunshine! haha!

our time together

you are my middle child.

since your brother was born most of my attention has been taken. I don't get many opportunities to spend one-on-one time with you or your sister, I'm usually spread thin. when a chance presents itself I take advantage and this morning was one of those times. I see it in your eyes, you still need me and want me the way you did when you were just a babe. you're my first boy, you introduced me to that new love. I'm the most important woman in your heart. I'm your comfort and whether you know it or not, you're mine. 

it was just a simple bath but for me it was time my soul needed. watching you sit in those bubbles and enjoy the quiet. we went fishing, we sank ships, you spent most of the time drinking the water or pouring it over your head.. silly hippo boy.

you are my babe, every day for the rest of your life.. my sun, my moon and all of my stars.

Christmastime with the Johnston's

This year was special. It was our Dean's first Christmas, the first one I've spent away from home and my brother & sister-in-law were here from Germany- Christmas/ Family reunion! I didn't get my camera out much that week. I wanted to actually enjoy our time and not focus so much on the pictures like I normally do. it was so refreshing! here are just a few from our mini-vaca :)
